Successfully implement corporate climate goals with ClimPact!

Climate goals in business travel is the current hot topic in travel management. Travel management companies, online travel agencies and providers of online booking tools are all working hard to make the emissions of business trips visible as early as the booking process. The aim is to show booking and traveling employees how and where the carbon footprint can be reduced. But how can travel professionals and employees really achieve companies’ climate and cost targets? Swiss startup ClimPact takes a slightly different approach. We took a look together with Christian Zeunert, one of the founders. Convincing bookers to change

ASTM Event at the citizenM Hotel in Geneva on 22 September 2020

With virtual panel discussion on “The Future is now – Hotels post Covid-19” At long last I could finally meet again with industry colleagues and travel managers. Live and in colour at the brand new cititzenM hotel in Geneva where the ASTM had initiated a fully Covid19 compatible hybrid event to commemorate the opening of this new property. Sabah Kahoul and Dominic Short from the ASTM had made it their target to bring business travel management people together for a physical meeting after all these weeks of lockdown. Regardless of the pandemic the citizenM Hotel in Geneva the chain’s

ACTE Global Summit 2019 in Amsterdam / 23 – 25 October 2019

As usual, lots of  business travel events will take place in autumn. Hardly a week without a customer event of a TMC or a regional or even international major event. That makes the decision where we should be present with our teams very difficult. With the ACTE Global Summit 2019 in Amsterdam, one of the most important events of the season is just around the corner.  Unfortunately, we will probably not be present at this year’s ACTE Global Summit 2019 from 23 – 25 October 2019 at the Postillion Hotel & Convention Centre in Amsterdam. And this despite the

CWT & GBTA Global Travel Forecast 2020 – Time for Budgeting

Who did the turn on the clock? Time again for budgeting! In many regions, the summer holidays are not over yet, and yet those responsible should already start planning for the business travel year 2020. It appears to me that the forecast of costs in the business travel sector is published a little earlier each year. This year CWT in cooperation with GBTA, the Global Business Travel Association, is making a start. On 71 pages CWT highlights the expected changes in the regions Asia/Pacific, Europe/Middle East/Africa, Latin America and North America. These are broken down by air, hotel and

The Event – Travel Start-up Night in Zurich on 23 May 2019

On Thursday evening, the first Travel Start-up Night took place at a-ja Zürich City Resort. Even though the Swiss version of the Travel Industry Club (TIC) and Internet Travel Sales Association (VIR) events were co-organized by Kuoni Business Travel, the topic of “business travel” was only marginally present. In fact, start-ups from a wide range of tourism, hotel and catering sectors presented themselves. A quite exciting event with a slightly different focus. Starting from 18.00 h the participants and the colleagues of the presenting Startups were taken in receipt in the Lounge of the a-ja City Resorts by the

Back in business – Ralf Dörig joins Kuster Reisen

After his decision to leave HRG at the end of December 2018 it took only three months before Ralf Dörig is back on the stage, taking over responsibility for the business travel unit of the family business Kuster Reisen in Rapperswil. At the same time, he will act as deputy managing director in the company. Mockingbirds were hummin’ for a few weeks and industry colleagues keet asking where Ralf will reappear after his break. Even if some were informed about the step early on, the change could go largely unnoticed and without much hype. Today, Arnold Kuster, the patron
